Song Circus is a non-traditional vocal ensemble, built as an instrument consisting of singers with different qualities and musical approaches, and with a very extensive sound vocabulary.

The chamber ensemble Song Circus (est. 2009) is one of Norway’s leading vocal ensembles in contemporary music, based in Stavanger. The ensemble consists of Silje Aker Johnsen, Ingeborg Dalheim, Signe Irene Time, Stine Janvin Joh, Eva Bjerga Haugen, Vera Sonne and artistic director Liv Runesdatter. Song Circus works with experimental music, sound art, and audiovisual productions. An untraditional vocal ensemble, built as an instrument, with different qualities and musical approaches, and an expansive musical vocabulary. The ensemble emphasizes close and long-term collaborations with composers and creative artists in developing new music and performing arts. Among these are Pascale Criton, Trevor Wishart, Ruben Sverre Gjertsen, Therese Birkelund Ulvo, Tyler Futrell, Ole Henrik Moe, Nils Henrik Asheim, Harpreet Bansal, Morten Olsen Joh, Jaap Blank, and others. Song Circus has performed at festivals and concert halls all over Europe, and has been broadcast on radio and TV in Germany, Scotland, Belgium, Netherlands, and Norway on several occasions. The ensemble has released the surround album Anatomy of Sound, which was nominated for a Norwegian Grammy (Spellemannprisen), as well as an EP and two short films. Their latest film production, Fugler, directed by Liv Runesdatter, has been shown at over 20 international film festivals in 8 different countries and has won several awards.
